How SyncGuard handles merchant data
Last updated: November 1, 2026
Data we process
SyncGuard processes Shopify store data needed to match products, preview syncs, apply approved catalog changes, keep audit history, and support rollback.
- Shop domain, store role, app status, and webhook health
- Product, variant, inventory item, location, and collection identifiers
- SKUs, barcodes, titles, descriptions, prices, tags, status, images, and inventory levels used for sync
- Sync profiles, preview plans, field-level snapshots, audit log entries, and webhook delivery records
- Shopify subscription metadata: plan, trial end date, and status
Data we do not store
SyncGuard does not request customer scopes and does not store customer personal information, payment card details, checkout data, theme files, or storefront tracking data.
Access tokens
Shopify offline access tokens are encrypted at rest by the application framework and are hidden from serialized responses. Tokens are not logged.
Retention and deletion
On uninstall, SyncGuard records the uninstall time, clears the stored token, disables related mappings, and keeps data for 30 days for reinstall support. When Shopify sends the shop redact webhook, 48 hours after uninstall, that store's data is deleted without waiting for the window to end. Customer data request and customer redact webhooks are acknowledged; there is no customer data to return or delete.
Third parties
SyncGuard uses Shopify APIs and the production hosting provider to operate the app. Merchant data is not sold and is not shared with advertisers.
Support chat inside the app is provided by tawk.to. It loads when the app is opened and receives the shop domain, browser and connection details such as IP address, and anything entered in the chat. See the tawk.to privacy policy.
